Music

Ultra Vox in concert

We present a journey from 1940's onwards through the most famous Italian and international music of the era. Songs are performed with unusual and original "a cappella" harmonizations, therefore without instrumental accompaniment.

The program includes hits from world-wide famous performers such as Renato Carosone and Domenico Modugno, and favorite Italian oldies from Fred Buscaglione and Quartetto Cetra.

Fun

Ultra Vox in concert

The good old radio introduces every song with stories and facts on the year of its publishing.

Vocal executions are accompanied by imaginative choreographies, performed by the choristers themselves, that give an ironic interpretation of the lyrics. Motion, added to polyphonic singing, recreates cabaret entertainment for the audience.

The show features a tribute to the unforgettable Fred Buscaglione, Italy's favorite swinger of 1950's. A few songs, out of the hundred of his repertoire, to remember his music and irony. And his favorite stories: America's play-boys and pin-up girls, gangsters and their babes, spirits and cigars...

Also Renato Carosone, the funny singer and bandleader from Naples, is remembered. Two songs from his shows - his most famous Pigliate 'na pastiglia and his parody of the "sacred" Sanremo Festival of the Italian song...

The ULTRA VOX Choir also covers a vocal quartet who was a favorite with the Italian audience for over 40 years - Quartetto Cetra. They delighted several generations with their sophisticated harmonizations and funny acts. This is a chance to (re)discover them, and a cameo: a funny tune by Quartetto Cetra found among the old recordings of the Italian TV & Radio archives.

A melancholic Vecchio frack and a lively Pasqualino Marajà are the characters chosen to remember Domenico Modugno - or "Mr Volare", as he was often nicknamed abroad. A gentleman in a tailcoat, odalisques and exotic animals... it's just a bit of what you can see when the ULTRA VOX vocal group is on stage!

Technical requirements for the show
